Magna / Verada owners from TR 1991 - TS 1995 Discussion here.
My verada has been in the garage for 10 years and for the last few years I've been unable to start it. I did not know that fuel goes off and when it wouldn't start I just left the situation for later (neglectfull I know). There is ignition but not even a tiny smell of fuel in the engine bay. I...
Hi Everybody, It's been awhile since my last post so hope everyone is well. I am replacing valve seals on my 91 Magna TR, brought a Valve Regrinding Gasket Set, included are 8 O-rings, problem is, where exactly do these o-rings go?. Please don't laugh at me, I'm still learning...lol. ...
Hi :) Noticed yesterday that the high beam / low beam switch (pull towards you to swap) is now just functioning as a high beam flash instead. (Won't switch between high and low beam.) Is this a common fault? Spray some silicone lubricant into it? Cheers, Mike.
Got my hands on a 96 TS Magna Sedan, 4G54 with 210XXX kms.. Paid just under $1800 so I'm pretty happy. New injectors and leads, water pump, & alternator.. Bloke I bought it off claimed a new clutch but it was fried within a month, so a new clutch has gone in. $100 Sony head unit has been put in...
Misplaced my owners manual and am sitting here puzzled on where it could be, after about a minute of searching, I gave up. As the subject title says, "how much oil does a 6G72 take", How much oil does a 6G72 take?! Thanks ladies and Gents
Once again, my KR is acting up. As i go to turn the steering wheel to the left, when its about to hit lock, i makes a noise that almost sounds like water trickling out of a tap. I'm aware that my power steering pump is leaky, but its been like that since i bought the car and its only started making...
Hi all, I have just recently purchased a 1993 TR V6 Magna for the princely sum of $300 ( with a full tank of gas) The car is running but has been poorly maintained. I have brought a new timing set, water pump, spark pugs/leads, ect ect... I have removed the rocker covers to replace the...
G'day blokes, been away a while, dunno if this post is worthwhile, but thought I'd put it it up, it might be of value to someone. My TS 3 ltr was virtually undriveable in the wet. Slipped and slid all over the shop. It needed new front tyres. I went to the local mob seeking recaps (as it's only a...
After reading this post: https://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=105989&page=2 I learned that the Eclipse clutch fork is compatible with the F5M33 manual gearbox in a TS. Could an Eclipse clutch fit in as well? Clutches look the same, and if anything could be compatible then this...
Hey guys, Some of you might have seen my previous thread about my broken clutch fork. I've dropped the gearbox and replaced the fork. While I did that I replaced my old axles. Drove it this morning about 10 metres, but then lost all forward motion. Key points below:
Followed manual direction to remove door handles... Once I got the barrel out of the handle I used the fine jewellers screwdrivers (cheap from 2$ shop) to wedge out the lugs crimping the cap over the barrel housing. Doing it gently and it's easile reused, crimped back on with a small hammer....
G'day all. Car is a 1993 TR 4 cylinder EFI belonging to my partner. We are getting it going again after a year 'out to grass' so it can be passed on as a first car for her son. With a new battery and some fresh juice it started right up. A friend serviced it - new oil, filter, all fluids...
Ol' faithful ('92 TR 2.6L) has recently developed an unusual issue. Noticed while coming home a couple of weeks ago that the temperature gauge was creeping up toward three quarters. I turned the heater on and increased the RPM to increase the coolant flow rate through the water pump, which did the...
he engine is taking time to start. This is not so in the cold mornings but seems to be more in the afternoon on a warm-hot day. Particularly if left stand for some hours. Once it starts it then starts ok second etc time. I've got most parts in spares so I've swapped the MAF and am contemplating...
Once again, my good ol' Verada is having is share of problems again. Not long ago, out of the blue a short hose leading from the under the throttle body to what I'm imagining is where the thermostat lives decided to crack and burst, replaced it straight away and no dramas. Tonight however,...
Based on an idea I outlined in another topic in series 111. A month or so ago I became aware, through smelling the ATF, that a towing incident a month previously may have seriously overheated the ATF. Various sites caution against a forced mechanical flush using cleaners on a poorly...
Hi all, Can someone point me to a guide on how to flush / service the tranny in a TR Magna V6?
First post here guys, so please be nice :) Magna TS SE 3.094 Just found out that the map reading lights aren't working. Can't find any reference to them in the Haynes Manual :( A downloaded manual only makes a reference to removing the lamps as part of the removing the roof liner. But...
Hi guys, As i write this I'm broken down on the side of the road waiting for the tow truck. clutch fork broke :( Looking at the broken half it appears to be thin and brittle for a cast alloy piece. Just wondering if anyone knows whether TR V6 clutch forks are interchangeable with later model...
As mentioned in the thread by TS370000, I've got my geek on and am toying with some PIC chip codes to talk to the ECU on my TS. This arvo I managed to hash together a quick routine that repeatedly asks the ECU what the engine RPM is. Good news is I can see the request from my PIC going in to the...
