    Default Best Engine Oil, Penrite?

I first used Nulon when i got the car 18 months ago, then when my oil was changed the mechanic used Valvoline, so since then i have used Valvoline Engine Armour.(people say that sucks)

I have noisy lifters i believe, my engine ticks, but also makes a noise when accelerating, its from the engine im guessing, sounds like something isn't lubricated fully.

Should i put in Penrite HPR, i searched this forum and people tend to like that stuff.

    Should i use the 5-40 or 10-50?

Ok i will get 5L of Penrite when its on sale and Wynns.

But i have a minor oil leak from the pesky rear rocker cover, so i should fix that before popping in the Penrite.

I was thinking of using some gasket maker goo, because i currently just have the regular gasket and it appears it cant seal properly by itself. Thinking i need to use some Permatex Black.

Super Cheap Auto currently has the Penrite HPR10 for $41 if I am not mistaken

I bought Valvoline Synpower 5W40 from Bunnings for $38 the other day.

It’s been said many times here that a genuine valve cover seal requires no sealant if the cover is straight and true and the bolt holes are not concave by over tightening.

been using Nulon 10W-40 hi-flow full synth for past 3 years. It's good stuff no complaints and cheap on sale at Autobarn/SCA I usually get it for around $40 for 6L. Penrite is usually more expensive but if you get lucky with a 50% off sale or something go for it. Maybe try a petrol additive like Nulon total fuel system cleaner or wynns petrol complete system cleaner. and yea valvo engine armour sucks it doesn't last that long stick to a full synth (on sale)

what he means is you have to reform the metal on the roker covers with bull nose pliars , so as the new rubber gasket is snug in the housing , then nip them up , its like 3nm so less than half hand tight, just a nip, tighten it too much and the rocker cover is deformed and will leak oil, i hope that helps

Pretty sure i tightened the rocker covers way too much, but the front bank isnt leaking at all which is odd/lucky. I will see if they are deformed and try to mend them.
