Default TL VR AWD Road Test

This road test report is a bit basic, but better than nothing.

It has some useful facts & figures.

Some reviews were more favorable than others, but they picked up on the key points.
The AWD system really was a huge point of difference and was well implemented and I really appreciate it, especially in the wet.
As an owner and driver of the KL and the KH, I still prefer the KH's front end style, however I have warmed to the KL's.
The KH always looks great from any angle while the KL doesnt do so well at all angles but often looks good.

Its funny, cos I think most young buyers today would see the KH body shape and angles as old, whereas I still see it as elegant, sleek and refined. It never ages for me. Many new cars around today dont look as good IMO.

I find it funny that the new Commodore not selling well includes an AWD transverse V6 https://thewest.com.au/lifestyle/mot...-ng-b88576829z where did we see this before close to 2 decades ago?

Hyper-positive review https://www.nextcar.com.au/rt.mitsubi...awd.04nov.html but I in bias agree...

Another source of information for the AWD, dated 25 June 2004(my own AWD is fitted with compliance plate dated July 2004):

The writer, David Morely of Motor Magazine gives the AWD Magna a rating of 7/10.

Based on the $4,200(+ airfares from Sydney to Adelaide - admittedly with some marks/bodywork needed not affecting the way it drives) I paid for my TL AWD 3.5 years ago and it's reliability, features, comfort, performance, reasonable spare parts prices etc, I would be inclined to give mine a 9.5/10.

Nothing else comes close, especially as I had 15 years direct contact with all sorts of cars via my job as a new and/or but mainly used car salesman(part of it spent at McGrath Mitsubishi Liverpool and Penrith Mitsubishi whilst in the middle of the 3rd. Gen. model series) to enable me to make valid comparisons.

Duplicate post deleted, which has posted out of correct numerical sequence.

    Strange.

    I think I see now.

Queensland is not daylight saving, but the post by "an observer" is treated as being in DST according to my computer.

Lamenting the loss of Australian manufacturing.

    1998 - 2005 Mirage - still missed
2005 - TL AWD Magna still paying for upkeep

Pre `98 - non Mitsis including two Fords, a Toyota and a Daihatsu
