Being fully synthetic, is it a better option than the OEM stuff?

Maybe in some respects, such as operating performanc at temperature extremes and oxidisation rate over time. The problem is we dont have a lot of experience with anything other than Diamond SPIII.
Is it harsher on transmission internals? Is it as good functionally, such as shear force and slipperiness - if it meets or exceeds the SPIII standard then why not? But it also meets other standards too, so whats the impact?

As has been mentioned, the Genuine Mitsubishi SP-III ATF is a third party supply part which is not stocked by MMAL.

This Castrol supplied product is not discontinued and can be ordered at any Mitsubishi dealership in 1L, 5L, 60L and 205L sizes.

We also use this now and have had no issues, smooth shifts

It is correct that this is no longer made, was made by BP, Castrol purhcased all remaining stock, we purchased the last 3 205l drums from Castrol sometime ago now thus nil stock. All they have left is what is still drifting around in the smaller bottles.

Can confirm, have done my homework and the Castrol product is good to use, in fact it hold the same rating/standard as the Factory Fill, beating out a lot of the competition products that are only Service Fill compliant. Penrite and Nulon also have a suitable product each - though I've never tried Nulon ATF and I'm not going to do it right now either.

So next step - the flush!

Anyone have a good video or instructions for doing this running?
I see a lot of people pull the feed line to the cooler, but why not pull the line out of the cooler? From the line out/return line empty this to your basin and then top up directly through the dipstick? Serious question. I would think this would be better for 2 major reasons: 1. it also clears out the cooler, and 2. it prevents any air from entering the cooler and potentially getting an air lock in it (unlikely I know, but why risk it).

Is Castrol Transmax Multivehicle compatible with Mitsubishi SP3? I drain fluid (about 5 litres come out) every 20 000km and refill. Does this mean I will have to do a complete flush in going from SP3 to Transmax Multivehicle?

It is better to drain and then power flush the remaining out. Draining won't remove what is in the torque converter.

At a dealer the 5L 'Mitsubishi' SP III should cost around thr $50 mark.
At a dealer, 4L of Hyundai SP III should cost over $120
    .... because logic!

I have had Maxlife ATF in my 380 for around 200k. Seems ok as far as I can tell. I also tried Nulon for a while with no problems that I noticed. Both of these are full synthetic.

I went to my local Mitsu spare parts to see if they were still selling ATF SP3.
They were aware of this "rumour" for the last 6 months.
However, were still ordering and getting stock without any problems in 1L or 5L bottles or 60L drums.

Just the same I bought 3x5L bottles so I can refresh the ATF in the KS.
    Was $50.40 per 5L bottle.
