I have noticed a improvement in my TW AWD since my little "accident", around town I'm getting 11.5-12.5 L per 100km, alot better then the 14-16 I was getting. On a recent trip, full car home to Cowra and back (over the blue mountains) averaged 8.1 l per 100km. Only thing I can think off is the battery was disconnected for a few weeks, resetting the computer, or they fixed up the mysterious hole in the fuel tank.
But I would not recommend crashing your car to improve the economy.

Drive carefully. It's not only cars that can be "Recalled" by their maker

See my post in AWD Fuel Consumption. Me thinks it is battery disconnection together with new radiator (after a small accident).

And also in the AWD vs FWD Consumption thread, I mentioned that since taking it easy on the road, the car is now averaging 12.5/100 with the same route taken before.
