Got back a while ago from SKR after having some dyno runs.
Sorry boys & girls, some of you may be a little disappointed with my results.
Seems we have a new NA 380 king!
183.6kw and 375.5NM atw
Scans attached.
I tried four different combinations:
1. With K&N filter and 'enhanced' lower resonator mod (i.e. how I run it as standard)
2. With stock air filter & enhanced lower resonator mod
3. With K&N filter & lower resonator mod blocked off
4. With stock air filter & lower resonator mod blocked off
The results were very close for all four configurations, ranging from 181.9kw to 183.6kw.
The stock air filter element consistently gave better results than the K&N.
Maybe because my K&N is a little dirty and the stocker is relatively clean.
I have not over oiled my K&N.
But there seems little doubt that the stocker is at least as good as the K&N if not slightly better.
With the intake lower resonator mod (end cut off and connected by a tube to the open driving light hole), it made very little difference to the power whether I had it open or blocked off, but surprisingly top end torque (5,000 rpm plus) was a bit better with it blocked off.
Steve was happy with the results and pleasantly surprised by them (me too!).
I asked him about a piggyback ECU and he reckoned I would be wasting my time considering the power & torque figures I am already getting. He said the stock ECU adapts very well to 98 RON (which I use exclusively), by advancing the timing and leaning out the AFR a bit, and a piggyback wouldn't do a better job.
KJ.
