    Default $700 - $1000 Extractors?

    hey hey

I apologise in advance if another extractor thread is boring you, but ive done the search and need some clarification, and thankyou for any advice or feedback.

I was told today that buying extractors plus labour could cost up to $700 because they take 7 hours to install due to the east/west setup of the engine. It could cost up to $1000 because there are these small 8mm bolts that tend to snap during the process.

I asked if they use Pacemaker and was told Hurricane are better because they come with a bent (mandrel, i think he said, if that makes sense). the extractors themselves cost $400.

Needless to say i am put off the idea of packing extractors if it costs so much. Has anyone had these bolts break on them during the installation process???

nah the bolts wont break unless the mechanics working on it are derros

i would expect to pay around $150 for the extractors to be on. would take just over an hour labour. $400 is a reasonable price for pacemakers..ihave yet to see a dyno chart or feedback from hurricane extractors?!

expect to pay around $550-$600 total

When I was shopping for quotes I was told between 1 hour and 8 hours between various different workshops.

I'd expect 2-3 hours would be reasonable for a shop that's done Magnas before. I paid 4 hours labor for my extractor install, but the shop hadn't done a Magna before. I was happy to pay though because their techs seemed to have a clue.

Pacemakers use madrel bends as well, so that's nothing special about Hurricane.

As for snapping bolts, that sounds stupid. Sure if they overtighten them they'll snap, but that's why bolts have torque ratings

Fergo - i notice in your profile you're from QLD. If you're in or near brisbane it might be worth getting in touch with UPE (i think??) - they are an exhaust shop that sponsors the Qld division.

Search the Qld section for some discussion about them there - from memory they charge $545 or thereabouts for pacemakers fitted on 3rd gens for AMC members, anyone else off the street pays $650 odd they claim. I've pm'ed them about my proposed future exhaust mods and they seem very helpful.

Hurricane extractors aren't common around AMC to the best of my knowledge. Majority on here have pacemakers, and those that like the "best" money can buy will go with RPW.

    Hope that helps some.

nice one, i think i will be in touch with Anthony then. I dont like naming names but i talked with Ashmore Exhaust on the Gold Coast, i bought my Lukey exhaust from them and no dramas there, im not sure, maybe he just wasnt in the mood to fit extractors on a magna that day.

Was that Sebring? at mermaid sounds like a go, havent heard of them but will definatley give them a look, would anyone recommend Carline for any installation?
