    Default HM headers

Hey all, first time poster here.

So i've recently had a 6g75 conversion done for my KW AWD Gtvi and am looking to get more out of it. I've read HM headers are a good option, how hard is it to find a set these days? Iv'e tried HM headers website but it seems to be down. If someone could point me in the right direction that'd be good.

I can't help as far as HM headers, but I am just wondering of your impressions of the 6g75 conversion?

Best thing to do to a Magna.

    It's an awesome conversion.

It is the same sort of jump as going from an auto to a manual conversion.

Depending on what you actually pay for the conversion, it is the best bang for your buck no doubt.

I am sure that any state will struggle to put on an equivalent to what MMX was, it was awesome both in the aspect of events and the social aspect after cruises,

    Hi Mantz_Machine,

I've heard mixed reactions about the Pacemaker headers and if my memory serves me they need a customised Y pipe and hang lower which could be a problem for lowered vehicles? But search the forums for members comments. Wildcat make some to and they look very similar to the Pacemakers. It's a real shame about the HM Headers, as they had the mounting plates for the factory heat shields. RPW well there is a lot of mixed feelings about them on this forum but their race design headers look similar in design to the HM Headers.

lI don't wish to stray off topic, but I have been contemplating a 6G75 conversion for my AWD VRX. Who did your conversion here in SA?

What is stalling me is the fact that here in good ol SA I am required to put the car over the pits at Regency for a mere 300cc increase in capacity for rego.

Can anyone advise of any legality problems following their conversion?

From what I understand, and please correct me if I am wrong, is the term "Regency" (S.Aust only)just referring to a thorough roadworthiness check carried out by authorised mechanical inspection stations and does not involve an emissions test?

N.S.W. term = "Blue Slip" - with the major emphasis being on VIN/Engine number verification.

I am only concerned about state government registration issues, not comprehensive insurance issues.

Speaking from a NSW/ACT point of view. This seems a very different situation to turbo skylines with new turbos intercoolers and after market engine management. Ride height dumped low Sydney low on coilovers with a cannon exhaust 120db. I had to blueslip my parents Corolla recently totally stock 111,000km since yr 2000 off road two years when they demented. On a stock car you if you care about it you would almost welcome the safety check if you are into cars. I was made to buy two matching front tyres...My guess is that in most jurisdictions 3.8 over 3.5 if the cat is there, the exhaust is not loud or visibly smokey. Smoke might even mean more to an inspector than a trivial capacity increase. "Put in the 3.8 not to have a smokey engine mate, that's the wreckers had mate that don't blow smoke", the tyres and wheels are tame, it that you'll be picked up on a legal safety issue rather than the swap. I may well have egg on my face as I try to register my 3.8 swapped AWD in ACT, but I've been talking to a lot of import Jap turbo owners. I think my 3.8 will look full cardigan and will fail on safety stuff I'd like to know than not know. Regarding exhausts after doing 3.8 sound like I'll pay for fabrication, but hope an AWD HM turns up, doubt it.

So, are you saying that you have had the 380 conversion done to your AWD, but have not presented it yet to an authorised inspection station to have the engine number looked at/changed to the 380 serial number?

I am asking these questions as I have found a good 380 donor engine.

I have not had the conversion carried out yet, but I am endeavouring to establish what legal hurdles I may encounter, so the best people to ask are those who have done the conversion, and have attempted to enure all legalities are taken care of.

No...my car is check book mechanicaled, by mitsfix and not done yet (used to do myself on Brit/Aus Leyland). In ACT wanting my 2nd Magna AWD saw a smokey++++ Black Verada +++++ in Canberra, wanted but I knew it would fail at Dickson on visible engine smoke. Seller stood her ground after a lowball and has it. Canberra home of beaurocrats now Hume. I don't think Mitsfix lie, told me heaps 1-15 3.8 AWD in ACT tough wierd jurisdiction. My plan tell Dickson/Hume Interstate inspectors went 3.8 because "the wreckers" told me it would "blow less smoke" than a 3.5 no lie and the power difference (from 0.3L) doesn't need an engineer. Not much trade in stolen Mits engines but bought from proper retailer in Vic. I'm in my mid 50s cardigan on, cat in place, quiet, no coilovers. I've have seen children of friends get Supras, Caldinas, Skylines passed but hard criteria stand re mods, these are big turbos, Haltec engine management, lowering on coilovers, JDM after market exhausts had to be rectified.

As I said I may well get egg on my face, but the swap looks stock and more like and is a legit repair. If I get told they found a crap bush etc. I'll thank them.
