Default Rear seat in wagon stuck in the down position

Hey guys i put the whole rear seat section of my 1999 TF Magna wagon down over the weekend and it is stuck/jammed in the down position.

I've put it down numerous times previously and never had an issue up until now, the button mechanism doesn't seem to be the problem. The seat gets about half way into the upright position and it doesn't go any further, i've been trying to force it up and had no luck and had a bit of a look around the mechanism area but i cant see anything out of the ordinary (not that i know what the ordinary is in the first place)

is there anyone who has experienced this problem before and can offer some assistance?

    Thanks

i have this problem sometime in my 99 TH. i think its because the mechanism isnt locked down properly or something like that. i just sat on it and bounced a bit an pulled both the release levers until they came loose.

This is a common issue, there is a fault in the hinge set up, they bend internally and need to be replaced

I have had this happen to mine, only instead of replacing it I just got the seat and pulled it up like all hell and it came free.

Default Solution for seat stuck in down position

The release lever dose two jobs, first it opens the jaws so the seat can be lowed down. Second it pulls a thin metal rod that connects to a metal bracket, which is part of the hinge mechanism so the seat can be raised back up.
On 2004 magna wagon the mechanism is on the passenger side of car next to hinge.
What happens is the pin is being held in place by a plastic clip and this pops out, which results in the rod not pulling the metal release bracket. The fix is to push the metal rod back into the correlating whole on the metal release bracket (I used the same plastic clip but you could replace it with some string to hold the metal in place). One tip if using the same plastic clip, is to push the clip into the whole and then the pin

my wagon has just done this. It's a disaster, with 3 kids and a school run tomorrow.

Where's the metal rod I push on? thanks

Well, no amount of strength -2 people- could lift this. But the hinge on the LHS is the problem, it was bent. With my biggest screwdriver I could lever it sideways back into place while a helper lifted the seat. It's back now.

If anyone has any advice as to how I remove the back seat, to replace it, I'd be grateful. The manual is useless and confusing, to a dimwit like me.

The good news is that the rattle in the rear seat is gone.
