Isn't there a 2mm gap under the butterfly when it's closed now?

Wow! I had only just posted the post 2seconds ago and you guys are all over it!

Hit it like a Mako shark. I reckon the new Magna should be named "Mako" but anyways....

The BF fits snug and perfectly - no light passing through. Did this one with my new high speed cutting tip, saved me a good hour at least over the ****ty standard Dremel-type kit tips.

Fitting it tomorrow into a VRX TJ auto. The owner drove my AWD and was smiling all weekend then came in monday 9:01am and placed his order. Dying to see how much better this one is over my AWD one done with my old tip and flowed slightly less aggresively.

For those with a keen eye, yes this from a TF with cruise. I'm flowing the VRX and reinstalling that unit for the client. The TF unit goes in so he can still drive around with a high flow TB while I'm busy chipping away

There's no gap! What am I? An amateur

I've taken a pic of the closed butterfly with my PC monitor at the rear. As you can see there is NO gap at all. But for best response I have taken a lot of care to machine right up the very crest of the tb that the butterfly closes on.

This is my way of giving something back to the all the people on the forums that have helped me out over the last 8months.

If we can keep the work *in house* we can keep putting $$ back into the Forums and that benefits everyone. What else can one man do?

    EDIT / UPDATE 3rd March 2005:

OK I flowed my personal TB so much that there was light visible thru the edge of the butterfly which I was concerned about during my early posts (like this one originally) and PM's to AMC members.

As it turns out, the tiny gap only increased idle speed barely 50-100rpm BUT it did make the TB even MORE RESPONSIVE . I was short on flowed TB's so I actually supplied this TB to Icarian as-is. Due to Icarian's response to this I've decided to flow ALL future TB's in this manner. Despite a higher idle, I still achieved FAR better fuel economy than the stock TB and I guarantee other members with the flowed TB have to.

The improved response of these units is because the air flow is already moving towards the butterfly at closed position rather than having to change direction and build velocity from stand-still as the BF opens - this of course equals faster throttle response in both manuals and autos.

So how much do you charge?? I'd love to get my TB hi-flowed but CBF'd doing it myself as of yet - and wouldn't trust any workshops in perth to do it (too far away....)

Your work looks pretty good from the pics - but I guess your name would be mud if you did a bodgy job for any AMC regular, and I don't think anyone would like to see that happen. (I seem to remember a couple of companies have had their names dragged thru the mud on these forums *cough*RPW*cough*AAC*cough*pedders*cough*and more*cough)

Man I need to see a doctor about this cough.

Neither, I'm in this for love....

My father is the ex-speedway champ, mechanical fitter/turner and machinist, so I have pretty good advice and a good amount of literature available that I'm slowly getting through. Mostly Ford and Chev books from the 1970's but still very relevant for working natch asp engines.

I really want to do a set of heads soon too. Work seems to get in the way of all the things I want to do
