    Default Weird alarm moment

So just then in my 2003 kj Verada, I unlocked it (but only the drivers side with the remote) and pressed the button to open to the boot. As soon as I pressed it the alarm started going off. I had to put the key in the ignition to "on" to et it to stop. But in my 2002 TJ Magna I only had to press the unlock part on the remote and it stopped but this didn't. Is this a glitch or do all the doors have to be unlocked before opening the boot? Yes it scared the crap out of me and more embarrassing because it was in an underground car park 😂

Although, just like me, you own the quite rare AWD version, you might be better off to ask your question in the more general Third Generation sub-forum.

There is some chance that someone who owns a FWD Magna/Verada might not bother to look at new posts in the AWD section, even though these members may just happen to know the exact answer to your specific question.

The AWD sub-forum is best reserved for things that are unique to that variant, such as driveline(not including the engine as AWD/FWD engines are almost identical), brakes, rear suspension, fuel tank, and not aspects that apply to ALL Magna's/Verada's.

Your door/boot unlocking problem would not necessarily be unique to an AWD, as ALL models use the same setup, so it is best asked and answered in the forum that would be viewed by a more numerous audience.

I think what you've done is press the little button to open the boot several times because the boot didnt open and triggered the panic mode. If you hold a button down for more than a couple of seconds it starts panic mode.
I've noticed that sometimes the boot wont open first go but obviously the temote is keeping count of button presses.

As far as I remember you have to put the key in the dash to shut off the alarm but possibly different models do slightly different things.

I dont think theres any mystery here. The remotes do get sticky when they're older and if moisture gets in. This can also mean panic mode is easier to trigger.
