Default 2005 TW VR heater core bypass attempt/verification

Hey guys, I've recently come to realise my heatercore has been leaking into my passenger flooring.
I feel like it has been happening for a few months actually, seeing I've smelt the coolant inside the cabin for a good while I just didnt really think twice about it. I am surprised that I haven't blown the engine from coolant loss though as I've travelled close to 12000kms with it like this..
I have been constantly topping up the coolant so thankgod for that, and because I'm not that mechanically minded have only now realized that that's not normal haha
It seems though now the leak has gotten a lot worse though now so I am wanting to attempt a heater core bypass.
(The engine oil seems to be fine no milkyness at all, and coolant seems like it has been mixed with anything else from the engine, and no oil puddles or coolant puddles ever underneath the car)
I've found two hoses behind the engine block, and a little to the right from centre of engine bay. They are hard to get too but I think I can manage. I'm just not 100% sure if these are the hoses I need to connect together and am wanting verification?
Also my heating and cooling still worked superbly, and my heating was always too hot if anything..
Does that mean my heater core is functioning but with a leak? And can the leak be fixed without removing/replacing the whole thing, and or could it just be from it being clogged?
Just have read that a lot of people with this issue run realise because the heating doesn't work and then join the dots when that makes them check the passenger flooring.
I'm a backpacker so don't have the spare money or garage to attempt the removal myself, but can manage the bypass if i get these hoses verified haha

There is a rubber seal between the plastic tubes of the heater core entry and exit pipes that has failed. The plastic tubes always snap when taking it out also. The entire dash must come out to get to this and this job for me is now down to 5 hours round trip while sorting out any issues and making sure all the bolts and screws are replaced as factory.

bypassing the heater core is a good idea if you have no intention of doing this job in the forseeable future. It is simply a U pipe.

IMO, the method that achieves results that are satisfactory for the purposes of this AMC forum, and elsewhere, is achieved with:

Later today, I will attempt to provide a detailed tutorial as to what is needed to upload images.

Because my images wont upload would you be able to confirm whether the hoses are the ones directly behind the engine, from centre of engine bay off the right a little facing the engine from the front of the car? There two medium sized hoses vertical of each other and really tucked away, and a much larger hose further below them (not important i assume)
