The chances of an S4 engine blowing a head gasket is rare, The engine would have to have been that hot it would most likely have stopped dead when it got hot

The reason a gasket blows is the expansion of the alloy and castiron compressing both the alloy and the gasket material.

I would want 100% confirmation from this mechanic that you have a blown head gasket before you agree to this. Are there any symptoms at all or has your mechanic decided that he saw something

I saw 2001 model lancer on the side of the road - for $750 ! ! ! !i went up to it and saw a old man and a aold lady near it i asked if its there car - they said yes, i said why is it so cheap - they said the mechanic todl them head gasket is gone - and theres always prbs iwth it so they want it gone, i thgotuh HELL YES i want it. so i bought it.
(ofcorse cheked revs n all)
insured it for $10,500 market value.
anyway - TURNS OUT THE HEADGASKET IS FINE ! got compression test n all. coolant perfect, HOWEVER the oil was around 4 times the level it was soppose to be. which caused smoke - droped the oil FRIKEN 10.5L in it - they said mechanic done all work, came with books up to date (these ppl were like 70yrs old they went gona do car service themselvs) anyway - fresh oil, oil fileter n all.... now its been 1yr, NO prbs at all. coolant level perfect, NO smoke at all, and oil perfect.
