Hi all,
Long time lurker and user of knowledge and unfortunately giver of little as I don't really know much about cars. However, you guys have been instrumental in me changing my brakes, my stereo, my thermostat, oil, oil filter and other minor things.
I ask for your help on a funny little issue I've noticed since a mechanic replaced my timing belt and air filter. There is a whine that increases in pitch with the engine when accelerating even when in neutral. It sounds similar to the whine you might get using an aux cable into a stereo, but happens in gear and driving, but also in park and neutral when you rev the engine hard. The noise comes from what I think to be the front left side of the car, but I may be wrong.
It's recently had trans fluid changed, rocker gasket covers replaced and sparks all done too.
There is a crack and some plastic missing from the airbox after the last mechanic broke it whilst changing the filter and think this might be the cause as it doesn't do it under normal acceleration, only when I really floor it. Does anyone have any ideas on what it might be?
I wanted to keep this a few more years, but if it's going to start costing me big dollars, might be up for bye-byes soon. It is a 2007 Series II GT with about 232000km on the clock.
Any ideas or help would be very appreciated.
Cheers,
Peter
