    Default TS Auto Trans Issues

I have a TS wagon Executive...2.6ltr EFI Auto
Just lately, the car seems to go out of drive and rev if I put the foot down a little.
It seems to now change gears at a much higher RPM unless I baby the throttle.
Its as if there's not enough vacuum available to effect a gear change (old school thinking here) as I know there are a range of factors which are processed by the trans ECU for proper Trans operation.
That's what it feels like though.
I have replaced the Trans ECU and there has not been any difference at all.
Has anyone experienced a similar situation?
    Cheers

Does this happen in any gear or only when in overdrive (4th gear)?

Generally this indicates the TPS (throttle position sensor) needs adjustment or replacement or that there is a fault in the TPS wiring. Does the power/economy switch make a difference?

    Default overdrive clutches

if it revs out in fourth the end clutch or another name is overdrive part
    is worn or damaged
its an easy fix a few hundred dollars

gearbox stays in car ... the repair parts come in a kit

there are four solenoids in the gearbox they can be tested and replaced as required

also if the filter is clogged it could reduce the oil pressure in the box .... causing your symptoms

next cause is the oil pump or torque converter

Could even be the autos clutch friction material worn out due to high mileage or lack of fluid at some time.
2nd gear was the first to play up on mine.Slipping gets gradually worse over time and less throttle needed for it to start doing it. Vee

G'day Conman62. From what you've described you could have a broken band. When it breaks the transmission feels like it hangs on because there is no 2nd gear to shift into. When you back the throttle off it drops into 3rd gear and if left to go into overdrive it will neutralize because the end clutch will be fried.

If this is the case it's box out. You wont find too many places wanting to fix just the band and end clutch though. I'm tipping they will want to sell you a rebuild.

It's a bit hard trying to diagnose on the net but I hope this helps. Let us know if you fix the problem.
