Default Ts 2.6 torque converter actuation

G'day guys, in the last couple of days my ts2.6 auto has been misbehaving.
At 100kmh the torque converter has been unlocking when under light load for no reason. Goes between locking and unlocking 6 or so times then back to normal.
    Goes 5-15mins before happening again.

What I'd like to know, is how the torque converter actuated? Is it by a computer or by vacuum?

    Cheers

it's computer controlled. I would bet that the caps in your trans ECU are leaking.

Bugger. Where is the module located? Might have have to pull out and check the contacts. If no good then will see if I can get one at the wreckers

Under the center console from memory - can get to it from the driver and/or passenger footwell.

    Default torque converter lock solenoid

the TR does have tranny fault codes using LED light flashes

you sure it isnt the over drive clutches ? or end clutch seals

yes the TCU is under the radio screwed to the floor three plugs type
you can reach the plugs from the side to try another TCU before ripping the console out

    Auto information magna

if you dont have the money to service it, you can cut that wire to the lock-up clutch... or disconnect the yellow/red wire on your temp sender (sits on the intake manifold). the TCU does not engage the lock-up clutch when the engine is cold - so not sending it a signal means it thinks the motor is cold all the time... the shift patterns change a little
    bit though

the red wire going into the gearbox
goes to the solenoid torque converter lock

Interesting. On the weekend I gave it a full service including fuel filter and new water pump. I also changed the valve stem seals and fitted new lifters.
I may have disturbed the wires from the coolant sensor.
Will investigate further later this week.
