Vlad and Oggy, You've made good arguments and I have to say the exhaust shop job looks and sounds just as good as the original. I accept it's probably unrealistic to expect that Mitsubishi could keep so many variants of exhaust systems in stock for so long.

Let's just hope the parts that can't be easily made by third parties remain avialable for a bit longer. I'd like to keep the AWD going as long as possible.

I had the same issue after Xmas.
Took it as a great opportunity to go to 2.5", highflow cat etc.
    Definitely helps performance.
Had to do a bit of work to deal with the vibration period.
Carpet underlay and a couple of cans of spray glue.

I've had a search through the "AWD" sub forum using the search term "exhaust", and I need to know if any "cat back" type of exhaust replacements are available for the AWD variant.

This thread suggests that there are no opportunities to purchase "off the shelf" AWD exhaust components except for HM extractors, cats, and mufflers that need modifying to fit.

I went to get my car inspected for rego today and the mechanic rightly picked that I have an exhaust leak starting just in front of the rear muffler and extending some ways forward.

He quoted me about 1.5 hours to replace the rusted sections - he has a bender and all the required equipment to do all the work on site, but suggested that due to the age of the car I would be better off buying a complete new centre muffler set up and he would fit it for quote "$35-40".

If I could find the "bolt on" parts I could fit them myself, but @$40 I would be quite happy for him to do it.

He charged me only $40 to fit the new NTK oxygen sensor I purchased mid last year.

He knows I can do my own homework in finding parts so I agreed to do the searching required, but I am having no luck.

All I am finding is off the shelf parts for FWD cars.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Or, short of buying second hand exhaust sections from wrecking AWD's, am I stuck with replacing the rusted out(or soon to be completely rusted out) parts with custom made parts?

    Thanks.

P.S. If I have to go "custom made", that will involve MIG welding.

Has anyone ever experienced any issues with using MIG's on Magna's as far as needing to disconnect computers or battery terminals?

I don't particularly want to disconnect anything if it is not necessary and do transmission relearns etc.
