Seems like a lot of trouble and expense just to get a door that will almost certainly need to be resprayed. Then there's the question of what to do with the rest of the wreck...

Absolutely. I see no logic in the transport of a wreck idea.

I would buy a door from a wrecker and spray it myself. But if OP can’t, then it would be cheaper and easier to leave it to insurance or pay the repairers. Job done.

Transport costs are higher than I was expecting, I figured it'd be ~$200 but I guess theres no significant difference in a wrecked car vs a ferrari they both occupy a space on a transport truck. So yeah not bothering with that

My concern with a respray is it just won't look right. This is a strange 'colour' cause its not just a flat silver it varies in its tone quite significantly depending on time of day and how its looked at, plus the much smaller metal flake than I see in most other cars
And its in very, very good condition hence are they actually going to be able to blend it in properly? I'm just not sure

I checked it in the sun and I can't tell unless I run my hand over the surfaces. I'd get the door repaired given how good your paint looks from the photo.
I'm 95% sure this is a Verada only colour though? Even though it says HH, i've never seen a Magna with this paint colour on it. Maybe the base colour is the same but the paint makeup is different? Cause i've never seen a magna that shared this paint colour

    Hi Millenium

I have promo books that list kashmir as an option for both magna and verada ranges. Not sure if it was a cost option or not.

Either way, a competent spray painter should be able to approximate a match, but it may always be noticeable.

I had a front guard resprayed after lovetapping a wall, and its never looked quite the same.

    Crosspost update:
    https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/thread/92klpqv3?p=5

"Did the run around with insurance and went to a few more places. After speaking to some techs and owners directly they said they don't want to do it because the age and condition of the car its going to require too much time to get it matched perfectly to its standard. Extra time they don't get paid for. And it'll just result in issues for everyone as I won't be happy with the results.

"Insurance assessors agreed and said find a specialist independent repairer that will do that
So found one that does very good work and takes their time. Quote was naturally much higher than the rest but insurance has agreed to pay for it.

"Booked in but going to have to wait a month. Fingers crossed for a good outcome..."

It's definitely Kashmir paint code HH but yes it's rare to see it on a Magna. In the link below and the second photo in the carpark is post door/rear guard repair and I also at the same time got the rear bumper resprayed. By touch you can tell it's not the original paint and the bumper being plastic it's slightly off to the panels but unless looking up close I think most people wouldn't know.
