There is absolutely nothing wrong with your style of posts or their content.

It is good to have you here.

P.S. I have installed a VRX single outlet muffler in place of the standard dual tip muffler.

It is still rather quiet, even with the extra home made cold air induction pipe up front..

Even my 94 year old mum does not comment at all about the level of noise.

She says my car is comfy to ride in, even with lowered springs and 17" wheels - not that she would understand about those things.

Thank you for the kind words leadfoot6

Look honestly, I took no offense at all, I was actually amused and cooperplace may not have meant it in the way I read it in the first place. It may have been meant exactly as typed on surface value and just been me reading more into it. That's always the curse of the written word.

In the interests of total disclosure I have to admit I have been accused of being wordy before and it's probably deserved. About 15 - 20 years ago when I was administrator of Oceanic Gamer's Network, their 100+ games servers and forums, moderators etc (now subsumed into iiNet's 3FL gaming house) someone described me as "the kind of guy who can take 19 pages and 37 paragraphs to say f*** off" which was about my favourite dig I had directed at me. It still makes me smile.

These forums although not the most active I use are among my favourite due to the genuine atmosphere, Makes me want to ring Mal and thank him for kicking it off (at least I think it was Mal) but I wouldn't want to waste his valuable business time, I just wish he had a Brisbane based outlet. I'd drop the local dealer in a heartbeat.

Like all forums there are a few stalwarts who always rally forward with helpful advice and tips to help us mere Mitso mortals and save us much angst and not a little money. I've picked up that some of them may not be best buddies either but by and large they bury that for the good of the community. In my case you and cooperplace have answered quite a few questions that have helped me either directly or in threads I have perused (for which I am honestly so grateful) and I have more questions to come about cold air induction, steering wheels and myriad other bits and bobs so I just like to be aware of keeping my fingers under control and be a good community member.

The assurance I am welcome of course is great to hear and I thankyou.

    /thread hijack off

So what do you think? The Solara is a 2wd of course so without the issues of the 4wd models but should I have gone with a set of extractors? I realise there is not much in it performance wise and I've been told the standard manifolds aren't that bad but with the uneven engine pipes front and rear I understand a good tuned length (and perhaps Y pipe, still haven't got my head around it totally) set will enable effective scavenging and improve fuel usage and minimise drone although that's not an issue really less is always better.

If "yes" than is there a particular readily available set currently by a manufacturer as some of the better ones I know are discontinued? There are several sets available through ebay that are reasonable cost wise but I would know gold from dross.

    Regards

    Hi Dec,
I'm genuinely grateful that you take the time to write such a long reply. No hidden meaning intended. The length of your reply doesn't bother me at all: keep it coming!

I'm grateful to all the people on this forum who help me keep a nice solid car going for very little expense.

If you're on the north side of town, happy to recommend the place that has looked after our tl these last four years. After the warranty expired we bounced around a few places until I found somewhere I was comfortable with.

Lamenting the loss of Australian manufacturing.

    1998 - 2005 Mirage - still missed
2005 - TL AWD Magna still paying for upkeep

Pre `98 - non Mitsis including two Fords, a Toyota and a Daihatsu
