Not sure if the heater core leak can be fixed when i eventually has the resources to take out the dash myself and fix it, or if it'll need to be completely replaced. But if i leave the openings unplugged will it cause the heatercore to erode, deteriorate inside and be rendered completely useless when i get around to fixing it, or does it it simply not matter either way?
Kind of hoping leaving them unplugged means that whatever liquid was left inside will evaporate instead of continuing to leak into the passenger flooring as im still trying to clean all of that up properly.
It will be fine as is.

The core doesn't leak, the seals and plastic pipes do.

So does that mean the heater core will still be of use when i get to fixing it? The heating element I had no issues with whatsoever as the heater was always more than warm?
So all I'll have to replace are certain components to the heater core? If that's the case then at least that brings a little bit of the price down..
Also, I know you've already answered, but incase any one else on here decides to have an input, will not plugging the holes cause erosion or rust or anything from air getting inside

I have now owned 9 3rd gens and have had to do a heater core seal replacement job in each of them. It is not that hard to do. I would buy the seals and the plastic tubes from ebay as they are not made anymore and therefore will run out.

Do this if youre worried about corrosion.

If you want to leave it disconnected, the car will be worthless before any significant corrosion would cause an issue.
